The “Club” can be cut and removed, doing nothing toprevent auto theft or break-ins. LoJack might get your car returned but will not tell you who wasresponsible. None of these systems prevents individuals from “keying” your car, denting yourcar or committing a hit and run violation. The Mobile Watchman™ EDR system allows you tosee who is committing a crime against your vehicle, giving you the power to identify the criminaland have them prosecuted. Software Upgrade – Upgrading your system firmware We are passionate about continuously improving the OBS systems. Our past improvements have been software and firmware related. It cannot be stressed enough the importance of regular maintenance of the OBS recording units. When performing the necessary upgrade using the provided Ferrite Core, you must also perform an update of your Firmware. You currently own a Mobile Watchman EDR (LED or Speaker) system (formerly InSight). Please visit our online store to register and download the free software updates at www.mobilewatchman.com and click on Buy Online. Hardware Upgrade - Installing the included Ferrite Bead You are receiving this Snap-On Ferrite bead which is required for the continued enjoyment of your OBS system. The Ferrite bead is a passive device that limits high-frequency RF interference on your system control cables. Simply snap the hinge-clasp and locking latch over the system control wires which link your system with the vehicle. NOTE: You do NOT need the ferrite bead on your external Secure Digital card cable, as shown in the image below. To install the ferrite bead on the control wires, follow these steps: Step 1 Open the ferrite bead as shown in Figure 1. Step 2 Place the entire bundle of control wires in the ferrite bead as shown in Figure 2 (Not the SD Card Cable) Do not allow any wires to be pinched in the core. Step 3 Locate a point on the control wires as close to the unit as possible leaving little to no exposed wire from the system opening. Wrap the 4-inch plastic tie around the control wires at that point (ensuring that the Ferrite can not slide away from the system housing). Tighten the plastic tie so that it is snug against the control wires and cannot slide. See Figure 3
